Dim Sum Palace is not unknown to me, having dined at this place multiple times, trying some of their small fried or steamed dishes. It is always exciting to go there, marking with a pen on their menu your selection, sometimes probably going overboard as you want to try plenty of things, similar to what would happen in a tapas restaurant.
We always order classics like the scallion pancakes that are crispy and slightly greasy, or the vegetable spring roll that are perfectly made and usually burn your mouth and fingers if you grab them right away. The one I am always looking forward to eat is the crystal shrimp dumplings that are superb: the sticky shell has the perfect thickness and the shrimp is the star of the dish. Another delicious dim sum is their shredded roasted duck that is the right dish if, like me you love duck. Jodi tried their soy bean dumplings that were a good vegetarian option, different from the classic veggie dumpling.
I also tried their salt and pepper jumbo shrimp that were succulent, the large shrimp being perfectly cooked.
Of course we could not leave without dessert and a must have is their sweet egg yolk bun. I was so excited that I completely forgot to take a photo, instead taking a video that shows the yummy center of these fluffy buns that is delightfully sweet and creamy. A must have, even if you might burn your fingers when eating them…
Dim Sum Palace is a great place that is expanding throughout New York. It is nice to have such delicious Dim Sum restaurant outside of Chinatown that serves a fairly large menu, including other types of dishes if you are not into dumplings.
Enjoy (I did)!
