We recently went to Panera in Hoboken for brunch. The place was quiet in the sense that there were only a few patrons, but the music was loud, to the point that I just wanted to finish my meal and leave, a headache being probably coming at the same time as the bill. Well, the fact that the kitchen was a bit slow did not help…Foodwise, it was ok, the guacamole having too much lime and I wished the avocado was less smashed, and with little chunks, the veggie quesadilla was missing cheese and I wish they served it with sour cream and pico de gallo. However, the brunch burger that was topped with bacon and an egg was delicious, served with maduros that you can add on top to add some sweetness to it, and some fries. The yolk was perfectly runny, adding richness and flavor to the burger. We finished the meal with delicious churros that were filled with dulce de leche. I should mention their coquito that was very good, nicely sweet and smooth.

So, overall, some food was good, other was ok. The menu at Panela is interesting for sure but I am not sure it is to the point that it is worth two Tylenol for me. But, if you do not mind the loud music, you should give it a shot…
